The European regulation ECE 117 in its section 2.11. states that a “snow tyre is a tyre whose tread, tread composition or structure has been specifically designed to provide, in snowy conditions, better performance than normal tyres in terms of the ability to initiate or maintain the movement of the vehicle”.
